Dr. Groover grew up in Chicago and then escaped the cold to attend Rice University for undergrad, where she obtained a degree in kinesiology and biological sciences. She later attended the University of Florida to obtain her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree, did a year-long rotating internship at Michigan State University, and then happily came back to the warm, sunny University of Florida to complete a residency in emergency critical care. As a critical care veterinarian, some of Dr. Groover’s favorite cases are toxicities, especially when she can perform blood purification procedures to remove the toxin and prevent organ injury. Managing sepsis, acute kidney injury, and ventilator patients are also areas of interest.

In her spare time, Dr. Groover loves swimming with her fetch-obsessed Labrador mix, Lexi, and going kayaking. She also loves scuba diving and waterskiing.

Dr. Johnson is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, where she received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Xavier University. She attended veterinary school at Ross University and completed her clinical year at The University of Florida. Her areas of interest include small animal emergency medicine, anesthesia, and sports rehabilitation. She recently completed a small animal rotating internship at our Fetch Brandon location and is now one of our full-time ER doctors.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Johnson enjoys reading, yoga, hiking, and taking her dogs on walks.

Dr. Muresan first completed his veterinary studies at the University of Cluj-Napoca. He later immigrated to Canada, where he received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Montreal in Quebec, Canada. Upon completion of his doctorate, he became an emergency veterinarian on the Gulf Coast. Dr. Muresan has over 13 years of experience treating complex emergency medical and surgical cases on large and small animals alike. He is passionate about healing pets and seeking happiness for them and their owners.

Dr. Muresan has three beautiful sons, Stefan, Ryan, and Declan, as well as two wonderful cats, Stormy and Benji. Dr. Muresan is also fluent in 4 languages: English, French, Spanish, and Romanian.

He later attended veterinary school at Ross University and completed his clinical year at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He recently concluded a one-year internship at Fetch’s Brandon location, where he and his wife practice as emergency doctors. His interests include internal medicine, exotic animal medicine, anesthesia, and soft tissue surgery.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Pfefferle enjoys soccer, fishing, hiking, kayaking, reading, and watching movies.

Dr. Elizabeth Price grew up in Florida and obtained her undergraduate degrees in biology and psychology at Eckerd College in Saint Petersburg, Florida. While in college, she became an EMT, and this led to her developing a passion for emergency medicine. Dr. Price then packed up her few winter coats and obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Purdue University in Indiana. Her interests include small animal emergency and marine mammal medicine.

When not working, Dr. Price enjoys powerlifting, participating in any activity that involves the ocean, and snuggling with her, always napping Labrador Retriever, Snooze.

Dr. Yousif is originally from Chicago, Illinois (GO CUBS!). She attended Iowa State University, where she received a degree in animal ecology and animal science. She attended St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada and completed a clinical year at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. She then completed a small animal rotating internship at Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Services in Rochester, NY. Her veterinary interests include trauma and exotic animals, but her true passion is mentoring young veterinarians.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Yousif enjoys coaching and playing soccer, reading a good book, photography, and dabbling in interior design. She is also an avid Harry Potter fan.

Dr. Penna grew up in a small town in Kansas, where she later attended Kansas State University for her undergraduate degree in animal science and industry. After graduating magna cum laude, she continued on at Kansas State to complete her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). Following vet school, Dr. Penna and her husband moved to Orlando, where she worked as a general practitioner for a few years. During this time, she developed a strong passion for and proficiency in surgery. She ultimately discovered her passion truly lies in emergency medicine, which she has been practicing ever since. Her interests include veterinary radiology, laceration repairs, and soft tissue surgery.

Dr. Penna, her husband Stephen, their 1-year-old daughter Evangeline, and their Cockomo named Bigs all currently live in Bradenton. Outside of vet med, Dr. Penna’s hobbies include yoga, baking, mountain biking, reading, and crafts.

Dr. Jocelyn Hogan received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University. From there, she moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she completed her internship and residency at Louisiana State University, specializing in small animal internal medicine. After completing her residency and obtaining her board certification, Dr. Hogan spent 6 years as an internist in South Carolina before returning to her home state of Florida and joining the Fetch team. Dr. Hogan enjoys all aspects of internal medicine, but she is particularly interested in immune-mediated and intestinal diseases in dogs and cats.

When not at work, Dr. Hogan enjoys spending time with her husband, her two young children, and their two pets and cheering on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Dr. Martin is a native Canadian who attended veterinary school at the University of Melbourne, Australia. Upon graduation, Dr. Martin worked in general practice as a small animal veterinarian before moving to Thailand in 2016. She lived in Thailand for one year, working as a veterinarian for SE Asia’s largest animal welfare shelter, ‘Soi Dog.’ In 2017, she returned to Canada and completed a rotating small animal internship (internal medicine, surgery, emergency, cardiology, oncology, and ophthalmology) before spending several years as an emergency and intensive care veterinarian at the two largest emergency referral hospitals in Toronto, ON. Dr. Martin is passionate about emergency medicine, quality patient care, and topics of animal welfare (both international and in our own backyard!). During her time off, she enjoys spending time with her new baby boy, her husband, and their fur babies, Hudson and Huey!

Anesthesiology combines the cerebral requirements of internal medicine with the procedural skill of surgery. The excitement of performing procedures that have instantaneous effects on patient comfort and stability provides me with immense satisfaction”. It is her great passion for helping with pain management and overseeing high anesthetic risk cases. Dr. Kerrie Lewis’ other passions include respiratory physiology, exotic animal anesthesia, and fluid therapy. She has also expanded her skill set with a recent focus on small mammal companion animal anesthesia and analgesia. In addition to veterinary medicine, Dr. Lewis enjoys running when the weather permits, cooking new recipes, and crafting. Her husband and cats keep her balanced with her work life which, as we all know, is not the easiest task for anyone in a veterinarian’s life.

Kendi
Kendi Ortiz

Practice Manager – Specialty Services

Kendi Ortiz is a certified veterinary technician. She received her veterinary technician certification from Hillsborough Community College after working in the veterinary field for many years. She then went on to complete her bachelor’s degree from St. Petersburg College in veterinary hospital management and emergency and critical care. When Kendi joined Fetch in 2019, her interests originally centered around oncology and internal medicine until she found her true interest, veterinary leadership.

When Kendi is not working, she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, and spending time with her family, friends, and husband. She also shares her home with two cats named Hershel and Sansa and three dogs named Lily, Severus, and Ollivander.

Assata Winston

Practice Manager – Client Services
Assata Winston was born and raised in Miami, FL. She eventually relocated to Tampa and decided to pursue her career in childcare while going to Hillsborough Community College. She soon realized that her true calling was to be in the veterinary field, so she quickly transferred to a private college called Sanford Brown College, where she enrolled in their veterinary technology program and earned her AA in science. She later realized the administration and customer service side of the veterinary field truly gave her a sense of fulfillment. At Fetch, Assata feels at home, like she is part of a true team, and makes a difference not only for the health and safety of the patients but for the clients as well.

In her spare time, Assata enjoys being a mommy to her amazing, adorable, energetic 3-year-old. They love the outdoors, whether that involves going to the park, hiking, or visiting amusement parks. They also enjoy finding new places to find tasty treats, and Assata has quite a fascination with movies.

Taylor
Taylor Ritchey, CVT

Taylor was raised in a small town in Texas on a large horse ranch. She was born in Pensacola, FL, and eventually found her way back there in the middle of high school. She pursued a career in elementary education but eventually made the switch to veterinary medicine after a couple of years in the classroom. She has always had a love for teaching and animals, so becoming a certified veterinary technician allowed her to have the best of both worlds. Taylor joined Fetch in 2020 as an internal medicine nurse. In 2022, she became the practice manager of emergency services, with a focus on the intensive care unit, patient care, and emergency critical care.

When Taylor is not at work, you can find her spending time with her husband, Andrew, and their Toy Australian Shepherd, Jessica. Some of her hobbies include working out, hanging out with friends, fishing, enjoying time on the boat, and exploring new places.

Dr. Muldowney is a native of California, and he majored in microbiology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University, followed by a one-year small animal medicine and surgical internship at the Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle. He then completed a three-year medical oncology residency at the Veterinary Cancer Center in Connecticut. Dr. Muldowney has a special interest in lymphoma, bone tumors, urogenital tumors, translational medicine, and novel therapies. Through an integrative and personal medicine approach, he strives to improve not only the length of life for pets with cancer but their quality of life as well.

In his free time, Dr. Muldowney enjoys spending time with his practice manager-in-training Corgi, Dewey. Dr. Muldowney loves to run and is a travel enthusiast with a fear of flying. He is also a self-proclaimed cupcake-baking extraordinaire.

Victoria Costa, DVM

Dr. Victoria Costa was born and raised in New York, where she became a licensed veterinary technician before attending St. George’s University vet school. She completed her clinical training for vet school at the University of Illinois, followed by a rotating internship in private practice at Blue Pearl in Nashville. She completed two oncology internships, one in private practice in South Florida and one in academia at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Costa then moved back to the South to complete a three-year residency in medical oncology at Louisiana State University. As a medical oncologist, she is able to provide clients with options for cancer treatment for their beloved family members. She enjoys the relationships she is able to develop with her patients and their families.

In her spare time, Dr. Costa enjoys spending time with her dog, Elsa. She also enjoys cooking and hanging out with/entertaining friends.

Dr. Merkle is thrilled to be a part of the Fetch team! She completed her radiation oncology residency at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine, where she received extensive training on stereotactic radiation therapy (SRT) and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), in addition to many other approaches to cancer treatment with radiation therapy. Dr. Merkle joined the Fetch team in 2021 and is excited to be able to provide her patients with advanced treatments, including SRT and IMRT, in Brandon, FL. She is also able to provide treatment for small skin tumors with a Strontium-90 applicator.

Dr. Merkle received her undergraduate degree from Mississippi State University and went on to complete her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Merkle then completed a small animal rotating internship at Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners in Tampa, FL, and a medical oncology internship at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. She also completed her radiation oncology residency at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Merkle’s time outside of the hospital is spent with friends and family, playing a good board game, or loving on her Dachshund mix, Pippin.

Dr. Brittany Schlesener, also known as Dr. Sparkles, graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Next, she completed a small animal rotating internship at Michigan State University and a comparative ophthalmology internship at the University of California-Davis. Following this, she completed a residency in comparative ophthalmology at Cornell University. Dr. Schlesener is passionate about all aspects of comparative ophthalmology. Her primary interests include addressing animal quality of life concerns through canine and feline ophthalmic management and promoting veterinary community education.

While not saving eyes, Dr. Schlesener loves visiting national parks with her fiancé, Jimmy, and their two animals Minerva McGonagall, a tabby cat, and Belle, a German Shorthaired Pointer. She also loves finding Hidden Mickeys at Disney World, reading a good book or listening to the Stuff You Should Know podcast, and watching The Golden Girls.

Kimberly Goodrich-Enderle has lived all over the United States, including Puerto Rico. She graduated from veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania. She then went on to complete an internship at a private practice in Virginia, followed by a three-year residency in small animal surgery at the University of California-Davis. Her areas of interest include surgical oncology and wound management.

In her free time, Dr. Enderle enjoys fishing, cooking, and lounging with her two dogs, Valentine and Diesel, and her deaf cat, Tonks.
